Spend one day experiencing volunteer work in Wolong Panda Base. Guided by the panda keeper to make panda food, clean the enclosures, and feed the pandas snacks. During the volunteering, we will make the Panda's cakes, clean the enclosures, and feed them the cakes.
Have the chance to hand-feed the panda;
Participate in daily activities in Wolong Panda Base, such as: preparing food for the pandas; cleaning out enclosures; observing panda behavior;
Gain the certificate of volunteer from the Panda Base;
Wolong Panda Base is located northwest of Chengdu in Gengda Town, Wenchuan County,148km away from downtown Chengdu. Wolong being the third largest natural reserve in China, it doesn't just boast giant pandas but an overflowing species of flora and fauna. The area is composed of vast bamboo forests and lush vegetation set in a cool weather that makes it suitable for raising these gentle beings.
The Wolong Panda Reserve is the hometown of all giant pandas in China. It was the very first ecological conservation facility built in 1963 for the protection and breeding of giant pandas. The Wolong facility is the home to more than a hundred giant pandas and other wildlife before the earthquake in 2008. Luckily, most of the animals survived the disaster and they are temporarily moved to Bifengxia Panda Base for shelter.
You will be picked up at 6:30am in your hotel lobby, we will drive for about 2 hours to Wolong Panda Base.
Here below is the schedule you need work there:
8:40-9:00am
Complete registration procedure, put on the work suit and gloves, wear the volunteer pass card.
9:00-10:00am
Start to clean the cages and enclosure, as well as cracking bamboos, carry out the leftovers, etc.
10:00-11:00am
Walk around other panda enclosures to see the adorable black and white animals.
11:00-11:30am
Feed the panda with bamboo or other food, like carrot, panda cake and apple.
11:30-13:00pm
Lunch break.
13:00-14:00pm
Watch a panda documentary to learn more about the scientific facts and the life of panda.
14:00-15:00pm
Clean cages and feed pandas again.
15:00-15:30pm
Make panda cakes and be issued the certificate of panda volunteer.
15:30-17:30pm
Drive back to downtown Chengdu.

The age limit for Panda Volunteering Program is between 10-65 years old.
The quoted price is for a 9-10 hour tour per day.
Please bring your passports for the volunteer work on that day.
Please follow the instructions of the panda keeper when you do the volunteer work; No touching or teasing the panda.
Avoid Using Strong Smell: For pandas have keen sense of smell, volunteers should avoid using perfume or other odorous articles like mosquito repellent liquid, nail polish, skin care products, makeups, etc. on the volunteer work day.
Dressing Code: During the panda volunteer program, you are required to wear comfortable shoes, like sports shoes, that are suitable for the work. Try to avoid sandals, slippers, high-heels, and so on. Besides, wear trousers, avoid shorts and skirts, etc. (during the program, the panda base will provide working jumpsuits in spring and winter, and T-shirts in summer and autumn for you.)
Healthy Bodies: To well protect giant pandas, volunteers are required to be healthy, and people who are suffering from illness, like a cold, fever, influenza, and other infectious diseases are not suitable to do the panda volunteer programs.
Children 10 years below suitable feed Panda need skip cleans.
